WILDE vs THE HONEY RYDERS
WILDE unterbrechen kurz ihre aktuelle Aufnahmesession und präsentieren live neue Songs, aber auch älteres Material – revidiert und frisch arrangiert.
Nach der Pop-Perle „Stand And Stare“ ging es mit mit dem Album „Raining Satellites“ in Richtung Progrock. Inzwischen sind die Keyboards weg, und WILDE präsentieren sich als Gitarrenband. Der Sound ist abgespeckt, die Songs aber bleiben melodiös und verleugnen ihre Sixties- und Seventies-Herkunft nicht. WILDE kommen nicht allein, sondern mit ihrem Alter Ego. Es heisst THE HONEY RYDERS und spielt mit grosser Leidenschaft Coverversionen. THE HONEY RYDERS kommen im zweiten Set zum Zug und verabschieden sich vom alten Parterre mit einer geballten Ladung Powerpop der bekannten Sorte.
WILDE folgen keinem Trend. Hier bewegen sich gestandene Männer kenntnisreich und geschmackssicher durch die Popgeschichte und produzieren Musik, welche aus der Zeit gefallen scheint. Es ist wie mit der Garderobe: Wer nicht jedes halbe Jahr die neuesten Klamotten in den Schrank hängen will, der setzt auf zeitlosen Stil. Und so ist das mit WILDE: Die Songs sitzen, der Sound passt.

A Tasteful Journey through the History of Pop
Wilde are a pop-rock band which does not really set them apart from hundreds of other artists. What sets them apart, however, is their excellent songwriting and elegant arrangements. On their third album they make a move towards psychedelia and prog.
The opener «The Moment That We Met» is not simply an opener but rather a gravitating ouverture with stacks of mellotrons, space-rock guitars, trumpets, choirs and a psychedelic noise ending. Quite daring! This is seamlessly followed by the title track of the album. Jangly guitars, Strawberry Fields flutes and a catchy chorus will appeal to all fans of British songwriting from the Beatles to the Temples.
Despite all the prog bits and psychedelic textures, Raining Satellites is rooted in its strong melodies. Still, this is a band that rocks with imaginative and also heavy guitar work. And there is variety. «Dry Land» is a folk rock gem and in «Lost & Found» sounds like a lost late period Beatles or Beach Boys song. Even a young Bowie seems to wave from afar.
Wilde don’t follow any trend with Raining Satellites. These are musicians who know what they want, and they want it with style.
