Das isländische Plattenlabel / Kollektiv Bedroom Commuity wurde 2006 von Produzent / Musiker / Komponist Valgeir Sigurðsson (Björk, Feist, Sigur Rós, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy) zusammen mit dem amerikanischen Komponisten Nico Mulhy und dem australischen Produzenten / Komponisten Ben Frost gegründet. Neben Plattenlabel unterhält Bedroom Community mit den Greenhouse Studios auch ein Aufnahmestudio in Reykjavik, ein Hort des kreativen Schaffens dieses eklezistischen und internationalen Kollektivs.

Seit der Gründung vor 9 Jahren haben sich weitere gleich gesinnte Künstler dem transnationalen Kollektiv angeschlossen und auf Bedroom Community Alben veröffentlicht, darunter Künstler wie Sam Amidon (US), Daníel Bjarnason (IS), Puzzle Muteson (UK), Paul Corley (US), Nadia Sirota (US) und James McVinnie (UK).

2010 entschied man sich, eine gemeinsame Tour zu unternehmen - die "Whale Whatching Tour" setzte sich in Bewegung. Die Bedroom Community war allerdings nicht die einzige aktive isländische "Force" in diesem Jahr: Man erinnere sich wie der isländische Vulkan Eyjafjallajökull ausbrach und nicht wenig Chaos im internationalen Luftverkehr verursachte.

Regisseur Pierre-Alain Giraud ist der Bedroom Community auf "Whale Watching Tour" gefolgt und dokumentiert in "Everything Everywhere All The Time" Tourleben wie auch die Zeit der Tour-Vorbereitungen. Der Film bietet intime und ungestellte Einblicke in die Dynamik zwischen den hochgradig individualistischen und passionierten Künstlern, portraitiert Musik, Kreativprozesse und die Arbeit an dem international bekannten Kleinlabel. Neben offenherzigen Interviews zeigt die Doku Aufnahmen aus den Greenhouse Studios und dem Tourbus, Konzertmitschnitte - und den einen oder anderen Vulkanausbruch.

• Die Hauptakteure des Films sind:
• * Sam Amidon, welcher bereits im Parterre aufgetreten ist, spielt nicht nur Violine, Banjo und Gitarre sondern hat auch eine wunderbare Gesangsstimme. Geboren und aufgewachsen in Vermont, stammt der Musiker aus einer Familie von Folkmusikern und zieht grosse Inspiration aus dem Background traditioneller Musik.
• * Valgeir Sigurðsson, welcher ebenfalls bereits im Parterre aufgetreten ist, ist nicht nur Gründungsmitglied der Bedroom Community, sondern arbeitete als Produzent, Komponist und Toningenieur bereits mit Künstlern wie Björk, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Feist und dem Kronos Quartet.
• * Daníel Bjarnason, welcher anlässlich der CULTURESCAPES‘ Opening Nights (2. Oktober, Stadtcasino Basel und 3. Oktober Tonhalle Zürich) als Dirigent mit dem Basler Sinfonieorchester auftreten wird.
• * Ben Frost, der Zögling von Brian Eno komponierte Musik für diverse Filme und Bühnen, seine Arbeiten gelten als "Zukunft der elektronischen Musik".
• * Nico Mulhy, komponierte für Orchester, Chöre, die Oper, Film und Ballet und wirkte als Arrangeur für Musiker wie Antony, Grizzly Bear, Jónsi and Phillip Glass.
• Die Kamera hat die schönen wie auch die weniger erfreulichen Momente der Tour auf Film gebannt - von Euphorie, über Situationskomik bis hin zu grossen und kleinen Frustrationen, zeigt der Film die Realitäten der Musiker, als ihr Traum von der gemeinsamen Tour Wirklichkeit wird.

• Bedroom Community is the Icelandic record label / collective formed in 2006 by composer / producer / musician Valgeir Sigurðsson (Björk, Feist, Sigur Rós, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy) with Nico Muhly and Ben Frost, later adding Sam Amidon, Daníel Bjarnason, Puzzle Muteson, Paul Corley, Nadia Sirota and James McVinnie to the intimate roster. Based on the outskirts of Reykjavík, Iceland, Bedroom Community is also the home of Greenhouse Studios around which these like-minded, yet diverse individuals from different corners of the globe all creatively orbit and create their music.
  
  In 2010 they decided to tour as a collaborative project under the name of Whale Watching Tour, and were subsequently affected by the Icelandic Volcano saga and it’s ensuing chaos.
  
  Pierre-Alain Giraud’s documentary film follows them on their collective tour, showcasing the music they’ve collaborated on and released individually under the Bedroom Community umbrella. Giraud’s fly-on-the-wall perspective shows rare footage of recordings at Greenhouse Studios in Iceland, backstage and tour-bus activity, volcanic disruption and some very candid interviews with the artists which give the film a tremendous honesty and reveals not just the artists’ passion, but also highlights some of the hurdles they all had to overcome to bring about The Whale Watching Tour. "Everything Everywhere All The Time" explores the dynamic between four highly individual creators and provides a fantastic insight into the inner workings of a small artist-run label and a collective.
  
  The documentary features the key players:
• * (Parterre visiting artist) Sam Amidon who, in addition to playing fiddle, banjo and guitar, has one of the most unique and beautiful voices we've heard, and the capacity to make us laugh at every show he plays. Born in Vermont into a family of folk-musicians, Sam draws largely on traditional music in his own recomposed folk tunes.
• * (Parterre visiting artist) Valgeir Sigurðsson, Icelandic producer, composer, engineer and founder of Bedroom Community who has collaborated with the likes of Björk, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Feist and Kronos Quartet.
• * Award-winning Icelandic composer Daníel Bjarnason (who will be conducting the Basel Sinfonietta for CULTURESCAPES‘ Opening Night at the Stadtcasino Basel on October 2nd, and at Zürich’s Tonhalle, October 3rd).
• * Ben Frost, whose albums have been heralded as “the future of electronic music”. Ben has composed for stage and film, and he has been mentored by Brian Eno. He relocated from Melbourne, Australia to Iceland.
• * New York City‘s Nico Mulhy who composes for orchestras, choirs, opera , ballet and film, and has arranged and conducted for musicians including Antony, Grizzly Bear, Jónsi and Phillip Glass.
• Throughout the film there are moments of joy as well as frustration, such as Ben’s own frustrations in translating his ideas to classically trained musicians. They have their good nights on tour as well as their bad. The camera catches it all, including some great moments of humour. It’s a film that shows the reality of what the artists face whilst on tour, as well as a dream becoming a reality. You will want to seek out every Bedroom Community release after watching it.
